Where to Find Coffee + Power Outlets in NY

As a new New Yorker who spent the past two years in Seattle, I have a really hard time accepting that not every coffee shop is a bring-your-laptop-and-work space.

Here are the spaces in New York I’ve found that contain the perfect trinity of Coffee + Power Outlets + Wifi*:

*list will be periodically updated as I find more

The Lobby of the Ace Hotel – perfect with a book

  • 20 W 29th St, New York, NY 10001
  • Pros: coffee, cocktails, cozy
  • Cons: it’s a dog-eat-dog world of trying to find available seats, the dim lighting makes you lose sense of time

Pushcart Coffee – when you need to get shit done

  • 401 W 25th St, New York, NY 10001
  • Pros: big tables, not crowded, lots of power outlets, solid coffee
  • Cons: this is a very no-nonsense coffee+work space, so if you’re looking for ambiance or something hip, look elsewhere

David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center – when you want to feel cultured

  • 61 W 62nd St, New York, NY 10023
  • Pros: light jazz + classical music, green plants, large open space, plenty of tables and outlets

  • Cons: the coffee at ‘wichcraft

The Lobby of Dream Downtown – when you want to lie to the hotel staff about why you’re there

  • 355 W 16th St, New York, NY 10011
  • Pros: comfy couches, cool building, beautiful people, coffee, cocktails
  • Cons: no table for long-term working, you will have to ask the hotel staff for the password

Stumptown – where I go when I miss the Pacific Northwest

  • 30 W 8th St, New York, NY 10011
  • Pros: the coffee
  • Cons: sometimes a little crowded
